As an Employment Development Co-ordinator, my role is to facilitate the development of and sustain supported employment opportunities for the people supported by the organisation.

It is really important that we match the right job for the right person and we do this by working closely with the individuals who wish to find work, their family, friends and their support teams, this enables us to build a vocational profile of skills, supports, training, and employment goals and also build a picture of their likes and dislikes, their hobbies, pastimes and interests.

To develop and nurture good working relationships with employers in the local communities to raise their awareness, educate and improve employers attitudes, to build a good database of employer contacts which offer real suitable jobs with opportunities for advancement. As well as establishing relationships to understand, support and assist employers to examine their workplace and to be creative in how they may participate in developing employment opportunities.

People with disabilities/and or mental health issues are poorly represented in the labour market we want to convey a positive attitude within communities where going to work for these individuals will be seen as a natural step just like everyone else. We expect that the work we do will provide a tailor-made and personalised service for those we support who are looking for employment and that the transition into employment will simple and straightforward.
