These are my last couple of days before I retire as CEO of the Partners for Inclusion Group – where I have worked for the last 9 years of my over 40 years in Social work and social care.

As in all jobs and careers, there have been ups and downs, but I genuinely feel privileged that people have let me into their lives to try and help (some times more successfully than others). People have shared with me in a way I have come to appreciate more in my later years, which has made my life richer.

I don’t have a set of wise words – but I have been around for a long time – so I am qualified to say that if someone asks: “is social work or social care a good career?” – I would say yes – as long as you go about it in a people-sized way – seeing each person as an end in themselves, not a means to an end. This is what the Partners for Inclusion Group strive to do.

To all those I have worked for, their loved ones and colleagues – thank you, take care and farewell.

Love Pete x
